Dance

About

Blake is a dancer and choreographer with over a decade of experience competing, performing, and teaching concert dance styles (Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Modern, Hip-Hop, Musical Theatre, and International Dance Traditions), Gymnastics, and Smooth and Rhythm ballroom dance. He has held leadership and coaching positions with his collegiate teams, where he competed as a bronze and silver-level amateur dancer in competitions throughout Minnesota. He also served as a featured performer with the South Dakota Ballet (Madeleine Scott, Artist Director/Founder) during their 2021 Summer Outreach show, The Little Mermaid.

 

His choreography has been featured in productions by St. Olaf College Lyric Theatre, DeepEnd Student Theatre, and RSVP Youth Theatre (Yankton, SD), as well as in collegiate and community showcases and events, and in local studios in South Dakota and Minnesota. His work combines clarity of technique and fluidity of movement, musicality, emotional expression, and the fusion of genres and theatrical elements, creating a compelling, engaging, multidimensional viewing experience for the audience.

Blake currently serves on the faculty of Roseville School of Dance (Roseville, MN).  He also dances professionally with DanceCo (Minneapolis, MN).

 

His previous teachers include Penelope Freeh, Karla Grotting, Anne von Bibra, Cynthia Lehew-Nehrbass, Timera and Rob Massey, Jennifer Bader, Heather Klopchin, and Anthony Roberts.
